Situated in Southall, West London, the site extends over 48 acres along the Grand Union Canal. The development comprises over 1100 units and over 20 acres of public open space, creating a vibrant modern urban village of new apartment buildings and houses, together with refurbishment of the canal and the design of the new marina and associated bridge structures.
Demolition work created 110,000 tonnes of recyclable material, despite areas of the site being contaminated. Site levels have been carefully chosen to minimise excavations for ‘basement’ car-parking and to maximise the usage of recyclable material. The larger buildings are of reinforced concrete with houses built in traditional materials.
