Bristol Airport's First Hotel

Manhire Associates have recently completed the site investigation for Bristol Airport's first hotel. Planning permission was granted in January 2001 for the 251 bed development next to the Terminal Building.
The building is arranged in two wings and is founded on 'Karstic' limestone. Manhire Associates Geo-Environmental team undertook investigations on site to assess risks in the ground, particularly 'swallow' holes or 'di-solution features'. Investigations were sequenced to avoid disruption to the Airport and Manhire Associates worked closely with the Airport team. The Lynxs development, managed by L'Etoile Developments is designed by EPR as project architects with Applied Energy as Mechanical & Electrical engineers & Edmond Shipway as Cost Consultants.

Situated in Reading, Berkshire the site extends over 4.2 acres with views over open parkland.

The site comprises of 83 units of residential dwellings and apartments. The foundation design involved a mixture of trench fill and piled foundations, roads, and drainage to adoptable standards including soakaways.
