As well as taking a lead role on projects, Miguel is ‘Operations Manager’ in the London office with specific responsibility for ensuring that our engineering staff manage projects well. The role involves reviewing how staff lead their teams and how our engineers manage. Miguel is able to draw on his considerable experience working on complex and challenging projects in Spain and more recently in New Zealand including a period lecturing at Murcia University.

He is engaging and is also a great communicator. This allied with his passion for engineering and the built environment make Miguel a natural leader and someone that our staff, our clients and fellow construction professionals highly respect.

Miguel specializes in Earthquake Engineering having worked on re-development projects following the Christchurch earthquake in 2011 and Lorca in southern Spain.

After obtaining a Masters degree from University of Valencia in 2005, Miguel worked for Construcciones Villegas, a specialist contractor in the Spanish public buildings sector. Miguel joined CEICO in 2008, where as well as working as a consultant, he lectured at the Catholic University of Murcia.

Miguel became a Member of the Earthquake Engineering Group of the Spanish Institution of Civil Engineers in 2011 and was responsible for identifying lessons learned from the Lorca earthquake. He joined AECOM in late 2011 and moved to Christchurch, New Zealand, to work on a range of projects undertaking detailed damage assessments and developing remedial strengthening solutions as well as developing innovative ‘low damage’ solutions.

In 2016, Miguel moved to London and joined Manhire Associates as an Associate Director to lead a team on Kensington Row. Designed by Squire and Partners, the Kensington Row project is the second part of a new residential quarter on Kensington High Street and Warwick Road.

Miguel has a wealth of experience in many sectors and has a track record in being able to deliver innovative solutions to challenging problems.

As a Chartered Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers, Miguel is committed to the professional development of staff, and mentors staff with passion and enthusiasm. Miguel is also responsible for the companies ‘Graduate Development Program’.
